Opawica Explorations Launches Targeted Drilling Program in Promising Abitibi Gold Belt

Opawica Explorations has commenced its 2025 drilling program at the Bazooka Property, located in the renowned Abitibi Gold Belt near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. The exploration targets build upon previous geologic mapping and fieldwork that revealed significant gold mineralization potential.

The current drilling initiative focuses on expanding understanding of gold deposits through strategic 50-meter step-outs from the 2022 drill program. Previous drilling intersections demonstrated exceptional gold grades, including a remarkable 18.70 grams per tonne of gold over a one-meter section within a broader 43.9-meter quartz-sericite stockwork zone.

The property's geological characteristics are particularly promising, with gold mineralization occurring within mixed, up to 60-meter-wide quartz-carbonate-sericite and talc-chlorite schists. These geological formations are spatially associated with the significant Cadillac-Larder Lake break/fault zone, a known geological structure in gold-rich regions.

Company President Blake Morgan emphasized the strategic importance of the Bazooka Property, highlighting its proximity to Agnico Eagle's Wasamac gold project. The presence of visible gold flakes, silicified shear zones, and complex quartz vein stockworks suggests substantial exploration potential.

The drilling program will systematically test the continuity of high-grade gold mineralization along southwest and west-striking geological planes. Rigorous quality assurance protocols, including precise sampling techniques and standardized analytical methods, will ensure comprehensive and reliable data collection.

Geologic analysis of previous drill cores revealed intricate mineralization patterns, including zones with up to 10% fine, fractured black pyrite and trace amounts of arsenopyrite. These geological indicators provide valuable insights into the potential gold-hosting capabilities of the Bazooka Property.
